Data for paper: The short-term response of ants to sporadic rain events supports the optimal defense hypothesis in an ant-plant mutualism.

Dataset corresponding to the paper evaluating the response of acacia ants in Mexico to experimental rain. Tests were performed in branches with only spines or with spines and leaves. Response variables are the number of ants at the branch before the experiment, and number of ants that returned to the branch after the experiment.
