State of the Environment Norway ("http://www.environment.no/" provides
the latest information about the state and development of the
environment. The service presents environmental topics in a simple and
easy-to-follow way and provides access to more detailed scientific
presentations. SOE Norway contains information about legislation and
international agreements, environmental targets, references and
relevant links. In addition the latest data sets can be download. All
information and all data in State of the Environment Norway have been
quality checked.
The Ministry of the Environment has assigned the production of State
of the Environment Norway to the environmental authorities. The
Norwegian Pollution Control Authority has the overall editorial
responsibility.
The content has been produced and quality checked by the respective
environmental agencies. The Directorate for Nature Management is
responsible for the topics on "biological diversity" and "outdoor
recreation", while the Directorate for Cultural Heritage is
responsible for the topic on "cultural heritage". The Norwegian Polar
Institute has prepared the topic about "polar regions", and the
Norwegian Pollution Control Authority is responsible for "water",
"hazardous chemicals", "climate and ozone", "noise", "air pollution",
"waste" and "international co-operation". The Norwegian Mapping
Authority has provided most of the maps.
GRID-Arendal has assisted in the development of State of the
Environment Norway. Statistics Norway, the Norwegian Institute for
Water Research, the Norwegian Institute for Air Research, the
Norwegian Institute for Nature Research and the Norwegian Institute
for Cultural Heritage Research have supplied the service with data.
