<p><b>Background</b></p> The State Responses to Immigration Database was created by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI) and a research team at New York University (NYU) School of Law. This database provides information regarding immigration-related bills and resolutions introduced in state legislatures. Topics include immigration enforcement initiatives, employment regulations, and health-related bills. <p><b>User Functionality</b></p> Users can search legislation by state, region, subject
area, legislative type and bill status. <p><b>Data Notes</b></p>The database contains 1,059 immigration-related bills from the 2007 state legislative session. According to the website, legislation data for 2008, as well as 2001 through 2006 data will be added in the coming months. Data are available on a national, state, and regional level.
