If this waste is not handled and disposed of properly it can cause infections. It can also lead to injuries for healthcare workers, patients, waste disposal staff and people living nearby. The operation theatre is one of the areas in a hospital where a large amount of biomedical waste is created during surgeries. OT staff are directly involved in managing this waste.
