Involvement of Microbial Community in Zostera marina Germination

Until now, various studies have mentioned that anaerobic conditions are necessary for zostera marina seed germination. In fact, anaerobic bacteria, including sulfate-reducing bacteria, have been reported to live together on the surface of Zostera marina seeds. In this project, we investigated whether symbiotic bacteria on Zostera marina seeds are creating anaerobic conditions in the surrounding environment.
