Bacillus mycoides strain:ST353 | isolate:BR D096i Genome sequencing and assembly

The goal was to create a Nanopore Long-Read assembly of the strain Bacillus mycoides ST353, as well as sequence the strain using Illumina. We then aimed to produce a reliable long-read assembly using Flye, comparing two assembly methods, and subjecting both assemblies to long-read and short-read polishing to produce hybrid assemblies. Quality was assessed using QUAST and BUSCO. We hope to add to the repository of genetic information from the Bacillus cereus species complex, and thereby to improve understanding of the environmental significance of these strains.
