资源简介:
The SABER (Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry) instrument onboard the TIMED (Thermosphere-Ionosphere-Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics) satellite has been launched in the end to 2001 and released data since January, 2002. The SABER instrument has worked more than 20 years until now. Due to the yaw of orbit, the latitude coverage of the measurement is in the range of 83°S–53°N or 53°S–83°N. The height coverage is approximately from 18 to 108 km. The dataset achieves the gravity wave profiles derived from the temperature profiles measured by the SABER instruments over the past 20 years. Specifically, the dataset includes the time (both universal time and local time) and location (longitude and latitude) of the raw temperature profile, background and gravity wave profiles, as well as the indicator of ascending or descending node. These profiles and spatial-time information are achieved into one NetCDF file. The dataset is the basis for atmospheric gravity waves studies. With the help of background and gravity wave temperature profiles and the corresponding spatial-time information, one can derive the vertical and horizontal wavelengths, momentum flux and potential energy of gravity waves. Moreover, by taking the advantage of the long-term coverage of the dataset, one can study the long-term variations of gravity waves, and their relations with solar and geomagnetic activities, the quasi-biennial oscillations in the stratosphere, El Nino and La Nina, etc. Such that one can explore the space weather and the mechanisms behind the coupling of different atmosphere layers.
