Pulmonary vagal sensory neurons (Npy2r) and neuroepithelial body lesioning on breathing control in health and lung disease

For NEB Lesioning: WT (C57Bl/6) mice (8-10 weeks) were treated with PBS, 1ug, 3ug, or 5ug of Saporin toxin conjugated to a newly verified NEB-specific antibody. Breathing was measured before (Baseline) and 4 and 10 days after via whole-body plethysmography. For each study, animals first breathed room air for 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute acute hypoxia (12% O2/Bal. N2) challenge (Baseline and D4) or hypercanpia challenge (7% CO2/ 21% O2/Bal. N2; D10).
