Genome resequencing of Japanese wild mouse-derived JF1/Ms strain

Commonly used inbred mouse strains, also known as the classical inbred strains such as C57BL/6J (B6) derived predominantly from Western European wild mice, Mus musculus domesticus. On the other hand, an inbred strain JF1/Ms (JF1) was established at NIG from Japanese wild mouse, M. m. molossinus. Recently, we have found a vast quantity of genomic differences such as SNPs and short indels between B6 and JF1. In this study, to elucidate more in detail of structure and copy number variation, further resequencing by single molecule and real-time sequencing system is employed for the JF1 genome as collaboration with Comparative Genomics Laboratory, and Advanced Genomics Center, NIG, and Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research, ROIS.
