Myanmar (2009): FoQus on Segmentation on the use of WaterGuard and Oral Rehydration Salt among Mothers of under 5 years old children

This study is meant to provide answers to the following questions: Regarding Water Guard, 1. Explore mothers'™ current knowledge and attitude regarding safe drinking water, methods used to treat water at point of use? 2. What are mothers' opinions and preferences concerning different methods they use to treat water? 3. What are the reasons/factors for consistently using or not using Water Guard? Regarding Orasel Kit 1. According to mothers, what are the causes, signs and symptoms, and complications of diarrhea (and dehydration)? 2. What are their health seeking patterns (i.e. when to start treatment, what are the available options, from where and whom they receive treatment, and their preferences and opinions on different options etc) for diarrhea of under 5 year old children? 3. What are the factors which influence mothers' decision to receive treatment from different options? 4. What is mothers; current knowledge, practices and attitude regarding use of ORS for diarrhea treatment? 5. What makes mothers want to use or do not want to use ORS for treatment of diarrhea (in terms of knowledge, availability, affordability, acceptability etc)? 6. What kinds of knowledge, association and emotional attachment and level of interest do mothers have regarding Zinc, Zinc containing multivitamin products and their effect on health? 7. What kinds of opinions and level of interest do mothers have in a new product (Orasel-Kit) for diarrhea treatment? 8. What further information is needed to plan and execute an effective marketing campaign that will let mothers know that we have a solution to their problem?
