Impact of disease self-care, management self-efficacy and knowledge in Thais with Type 2 diabetes: A 5 year nationwide cohort study

In this study we examine the impact on baseline diabetes self-care, diabetes management (domain-specific) and global self-efficacy and disease knowledge on short- to medium-term achievement of clinical targets and the development of chronic type 2 diabetes complications. The project involves surveying patients disease knowledge, attitude and self-care practice from 12 hospitals from across Thailand at baseline (2020) along with their clinical characteristics such as clinical targets (such as blood glucose, pressure and ldl cholesterol) and the development of chronic complications (e.g. diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy). Included are the protocol, Thai and English versions of the survey instrument and the baseline data (749 patients) along with a data dictionary. Follow up data (clinical outcomes only) are scheduled to be added in 2023 and 2025.
