DNA metabarcoding of 17 macroinvertebrate sites (Flanders, Belgium) from eDNA. freshwater metagenome

The main objective of this study was to compare traditional sampling (kick-net) to eDNA metabarcoding for lentic macro-invertebrate species. Across Flanders 17 standing water bodies were sampled with the kick-sampling method as well as taking 1 L of water. This water was filtered and DNA from the filters was extracted. COI gene was amplified and samples were sequenced using the Illumina system. Main goals: compare identification efficiency of traditional and DNA-based methods.
