This zip file contains two folders with the <b>data </b>and <b>codes </b>necessary to reproduce the main results presented in:<br>Sallares, V., and Ranero, C.R., Upper plate rigidity determines depth-varying megathrust earthquake rupture behavior, submitted to Nature, 2019 <br><b>1) data:</b><br>-<i>WAS-profiles.txt</i>: Indicate number and approximate location of all digitized profile, type of margin, and name. Refernce list is in the accompanying paper<br>- <b>digitized data</b>: Folder containing digitized P-wave velocity (Vp) as a function of depth and batthymetry along the profiles indicated in WAS-profiles.txt<br>- <b>properties</b>: Folder containing interpolated values of depth, P-wave velocity, density, S-wave velocity (Vs), rigidity, M-modulus, Poisson ratio, rupture velocity and porosity, calculated from the digitized P-wave values in the <b>digitized data</b> folder. <b><br></b><b>2) codes:</b><br>- <i>script.01.sh</i>: Shellscript that reads the digitized Vp(z) and bathymetry values in the <b>digitized data</b> folder and generates the plots of Vp(z) (fig 2a in the manuscript)<br>- <i>fig01.ps</i>: Figure generated by <i>script.01.sh</i><i><br></i><i>- script.02.sh: </i>Shellscript to calculate Vs, density, rigidity (needed for figures 2 and 3 and for several extended data figures in the manuscript) and other physical properties not used in the manuscript along all profiles using files created by<i> script.01. </i>Results are shown in the <b>properties </b>folder.<i><br></i><i>- script.03.sh: </i>Script to calculate average Vp, Vs, rigidity of all profiles as a function of depth, and their standard deviation. Input data are files created by <i>script.02</i><br>- <i>script.04.sh</i>: Script to generate the Vp(z) and rigidity(z) profiles shown in fig. 2c and fig 2d of the mansucript. Input data are the average values generated by <i>script.03</i><i><br></i><i>- fig04.ps: </i> Figure generated by <i>script.04.sh</i><br>- <i>script.05.sh</i>: Script to generate the slip ratio(z), rupture duration(z), corner frequency ratio (z) and MW-MS(z) profiles shown in fig. 3 of the manuscript. Input data are generated by <i>script.03</i><br>- fig05.ps: Figure generated by <i>script.05.sh</i><br>
