Soil dissolved organic matter (DOM) lability and characterization at Cape Bounty, Melville Island, Nunavut - 2017

The goal of this project is to understand how surface soil organic matter quantity and quality varies by vegetation type and within disturbances in a High Arctic environment. Soil samples were systematically collected from five different vegetation cover types and three physical disturbances at the Cape Bounty Arctic Watershed Observatory to a) investigate the relationship between dissolved organic matter (DOM) quality and vegetation cover and b) examine the quantity and quality of newly exposed soil organic matter. Soil chemical analyses were completed at Queens University.
