Pinus pinaster zygotic embryogenesis has been used as an experimental model to identify molecular regulators of embryo development through the analysis of small non-coding RNAs (sRNAs) across specific embryo developmental transitions. To better understand sRNAs role in the control of Pinus pinaster embryo development, sRNA libraries of zygotic embryos (ZE) and megagametophytes (MG), covering the morphogenesis and maturation phases of seed development, as well as of SE in early-cotyledonary and mature stages were sequenced using Illumina technology.
