This dataset contains the microstructure and microhardness data of porous SiC/AlSi10Mg composites fabricated by a liquid-state processing route. The composites were prepared by using a replication method with NaCl as a space holder material. The porosity of the composites ranged from 800 to 1200 μm. The microstructural and microhardness characteristics of the composites were determined by light microscopy and Vickers indentation methods. The dataset consists of four folders, each containing the images and data of the composites with different porosity and SiC content. The folders are named as follows:
AlSi10Mg_800-1000_μm: open-cell AlSi10Mg materials with porosity 800 to 1000 μm
AlSi10Mg_1000-1200_μm: open-cell AlSi10Mg materials with porosity 1000 to 1200 μm
AlSi10Mg-SiC_800-1000_μm: open-cell AlSi10Mg-SiC composites with porosity 800 to 1000 μm
AlSi10Mg-SiC_1000-1200_μm: open-cell AlSi10Mg-SiC composites with porosity 1000 to 1200 μm
The samples are labeled as follows:
C: open-cell AlSi10Mg materials with porosity 800 to 1000 μm
E: open-cell AlSi10Mg materials with porosity 1000 to 1200 μm
SC: open-cell AlSi10Mg-SiC composites with porosity 800 to 1000 μm
SE: open-cell AlSi10Mg-SiC composites with porosity 1000 to 1200 μm
