It has been reported that dysbiosis of gut microbiota exacerbates the development of renal fibrosis and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Curcumin (CUR) has been reported to alleviate fibrosis in kidney and remodel intestinal flora in animals and humans. However, its nephroprotective mechanism remains largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism through which CUR ameliorates renal fibrosis via modulating gut microbiota and microflora-related metabolites.
