Microbiota changes associated with decomposition of brown algae.. metagenome

Brown algae (seaweed) is abundant carbon resource. For effective utilization of the biomass, mechanism of decomposition is need to be elucidated. We focused on bacteria that colonize on the algae and degrade polysaccharide laminarin and alginate, which are highly contained in brown algae. We conducted amplicon-based sequencing targeting 16S rRNA V3-V4 using MiSeq system to examine changes of microbiome associated with brown algae decomposition and laminarin consumption.
