Investigation of the molecular basis of the involvement of selected oral microbiota strains in the etiology of abdominal aortic aneurysms along the RAGE–metalloproteinase–pro-inflammatory factors axis

The aim of the study is to elucidate the role of selected strains of oral microbiota in the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysms through the potential modulation of tissue-specific inflammation along the RAGE axis (membrane-bound form and soluble form (sRAGE)) – metalloproteinases (MMP-2, MMP-9, ADAM-10) – and selected pro-inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, IL-17, TGF-β).
