资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school and their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. These registers contain information pertaining to each student including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school is also recorded.Girls and boys are listed together in order of admission. In some early years there was an attempt to list boys and girls separately but this was never entirely successful and was soon abandoned. The entries in the first two registers are sequentially numbered. The third register contains a continuation of this sequence covering admissions until the end of 1946. However, the remainder of the register's entries, covering the years 1947-50, are numbered in annual sequences. For the years 1947-8 the year is recorded first. Thus 47/1, 47/2 etc record the first two admissions for 1947. For the years 1949-50 the admission is numbered first. Thus 1/49, 2/49 etc record the first two admissions for 1949. This system continues in the fourth register for admissions in 1951 eg, 1/51, 2/51 etc. For the remainder of surviving records in this series admissions are again numbered in annual sequences with the year first. From 1947 admission entries sometimes include the class, within the grade, that children were admitted to. From 1958 admissions are listed in class groups. It should be noted that for the years 1962 to end-1968 admission entries almost certainly continue in another register which is not part of the current holdings of this series. Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
