A total of 34 detrital charcoal samples from along Clear Creek, a tributary to the
Sacramento River in northern California, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for
radiocarbon analysis. These samples were collected from stream terraces and the floodplain
along Clear Creek for the Whiskeytown Flood Hydrology Study. Botanic components and
detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated.
Nine charcoal samples were submitted for AMS radiocarbon analysis.
