Genomic surveillance of pathogens infecting hospitalized patients from selected sub-Saharan African clinical settings

Our project seeks to characterize pathogens associated with infectious and noninfectious diseases in the sub-Saharan African context. Understanding the scarcity of genomic data, we are combining phenotypic and genomic determinants of virulence and drug resistance to establish the possible risks of pathogens from hospitalized patients including those with comorbidities. Our findings will inform the public about the most relevant pathogens for diseases and suggest appropriate intervention measures.
