In the first half of 2019, strip centers vacancy rate in Costa Rica hit 13.34 percent, followed by neighborhood centers with 10.67 percent. In that same period, strip center's available floor area totaled 25.55 thousand square meters. Strip centers are a type of open-air shopping malls under 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) and neighborhood centers are malls with 30,000 to 125,000 square feet (2,800 to 11,600 m2) of gross leasable area, typically anchored by a supermarket and/or large drugstore.
