VPRS 3860 Miscellaneous Applications for the Establishment of a State School and Applications for Former School Sites

This is an incomplete series, starting as it does at the 'D' alphabetical group. Other papers, particularly prior to 1886 were possibly filed in General Correspondence. The files in this series relate primarily to applications which were not supported and from which no school resulted as applications for the establishment of a school and related papers are frequently the earliest papers on a school building file. Some files in the series appear to be misplaced with miscellaneous applications for the establishment of a State School as they deal with applications for a subsidised school (see VPRS 3859 Subsidised Schools Correspondence Files) or with revocation of or sale of a school site.The files vary in size from two or three papers to more substantial files covering a period of some years. They may contain correspondence from individuals, then a formal application form for the establishment of a state school (including the names and ages of children, reports from District Inspectors, notes on deputations, detailed maps, comprehensive details of proposed sites and recommendations regarding buildings). Files may contain correspondence relating to both applications for the establishment of a school and applications for the acquisition of a site.
