资源简介:
The Pig Island site is a significant but degraded habitat due to reduced river flow, weed infestation, wetland and pasture drainage, with a unique fresh and salt water ecosystem within the Latrobe tourism precinct. Project works aim to restore and prevent foreshore erosion and regenerate a degraded wetland region on Pig Island with weed and feral plant removal, native planting and boardwalk construction over degraded wetland and foreshore locations. Redundant levee bank sections will be removed to allow tidal inundation of the saltwater marshes to reinvigorate this wetland. Weed eradication and planting of local species will be undertaken to provide habitat that will allow the once prolific wildlife to re-establish. Signage will also be developed.
