An Exploration of a Cardiac-Based Seizure Prediction Digital Service: A Human-Centred Design Approach

People living with epilepsy deal with uncertainty due to unpredictable seizures. This thesis explores how a digital service that can predict seizures using heart rate monitoring can be designed to help improve their quality of life. The research reviewed existing studies, interviewed doctors and patients, and tested a heart rate monitor device in epilepsy patients. Findings suggest the importance of trust, clear information, educating users and how comfortable and noticeable the device is. These insights can guide the design of future digital technology that meets user needs and improves epilepsy care.
