X-ray observations of EUV-bright AGN

GT We propose to observe three AGN which all have very strong EUV components,but are otherwise quite different in terms of the implications that theiroptical to soft Xray spectra represent for models of the big bump. (theoptical to soft Xray component which incorporates the optical/UV big blue bumpand the soft Xray excess). REJ1034+396 (z0.04) is a narrowline Seyfert 1galaxy whose BBB temperature is unusually high (kTeffvirgul100eV). In addition, the 210keV spectrum measured by ASCA is unusually soft with an energy index,alpha1.6. E1346+266 is a narrowline quasar (z0.92) and has the strongest,softest Xray spectrum identified to date.
