Landsat 9 Surface Temperature Inputs and R Workflow for Heat-Sensitive Walkability Assessment in Loja, Ecuador

This dataset contains the Landsat 9 Collection 2 Level-2 Surface Temperature input files and the processing workflow used to support the article “Assessing Heat-Sensitive Walkability through a Reproducible Multi-Scale Spatial Workflow: Application to Loja, Ecuador”. The deposited files include: (1) the R workflow documented in a Word file, (2) the Landsat 9 QA_PIXEL quality assessment raster, and (3) the Landsat 9 ST_B10 surface temperature raster for scene LC09_L2SP_010063_20260414_20260415_02_T1. These files were used to derive strict QA-masked land surface temperature, generate grid-based thermal indicators, and support the construction of composite indices for walkability, observed LST-based heat intensity, and urban comfort in Loja, Ecuador. The workflow was developed for an open-data, multi-scale spatial assessment using Landsat-derived land surface temperature, OpenStreetMap-derived urban-form indicators, DEM-derived slope, composite indices, and spatial autocorrelation analysis. The analytical grids used in the associated study were 100 m, 250 m, and 500 m. The Landsat files correspond to publicly available U.S. Geological Survey/NASA Landsat Collection 2 Level-2 products. Landsat products and imagery are in the public domain and may be used without restrictions; however, proper acknowledgement of the U.S. Geological Survey as the data source is recommended. The script/documentation file is provided to support reproducibility of the spatial workflow.
