Mikata Five Lakes Survey Project

Meromictic Lake Suigetsu is one of the Mikata Five Lakes, Fukui, Japan, and has a steep oxygen gradient in the water column with depth. The lake has the permanently stratified anoxic bottom layer, which is good analogous site for demonstrating of the oxygen-driven niches of microbes. To investigate the temporal change of the photosystem II type phototrophic bacterial community structure throughout the year in the lake using photosynthesis-related gene, pufM amplicon sequencing analysis.
