资源简介:
PM2.5 is the measurement of fine inhalable particles, with diameters that are generally 2.5 micrometers and smaller. High levels of PM2.5 are associated with respiratory complications and other negative health outcomes, and can pose a significant health threat to local populations.
PM2.5 is a common measure of air quality but it normally requires ground-based sensors to measure. Compared to other regions in the world, Africa has very few consistent consistent air quality sensors to monitor and predict air quality. This dataset seeks to fill this gap using publicly available satellite data.
This dataset contains daily estimates of PM2.5 particulate matter in 1466 cities across Africa as well as an additional 496 smaller population clusters in South Africa. These estimates are generated by a model that has been trained on historical data from locations where PM2.5 sensors are in place. The model takes several global layers as inputs, most importantly data from Sentinel 5P and weather data.
