Three strains of E. coli have been central to studies of bacterial translation. These are well identified by genotype, with the wild type Xac (ara gyrA rpoB argEamber DEL[lac-proAB]) being compared against strain US157 (Xac rspL141 zcg-174::Tn10) and strain UD131 (Xac rpsD12). Whole genome sequencing of these strains would provide valuable context for interpreting translational fidelity phenotypes observed experiments designed around these strains.
