This study aims at systematical uncovering of the characteristics for inducable mutations by the two types of breeding methods, i.e., mutagenesis or TAQing2.0, in torula yeast. TAQing2.0 is a DNA-free and protein transfection-based breeding technology, and could be adoptable to various eukaryotes. We will demonstrate that large-scale genomic rearrangement can be induced easier than the case by using mutagenesis method, and this effect would be maximized toward the asexual microorganisms which are not capable of forming sporulation.
