资源简介:
Site LA130191 was tested excavated in the summer of 2000 by the ASU Eastern Mimbres Archaeological Project (EMAP), and further excavations were conducted during the summer of 2001 by members of the ASU Field School and EMAP. The goal of this project is to collect data from Classic period (A.D. 1000- 1130) Mimbres habitation - rooms and adjacent areas to improve understanding of the occupation, abandonment and reorganization of sites in the Eastern Mimbres area. LA130191, Pague Well Village, is located on a low first terrace above the floodplain on the south side of the Seco drainage. The terrace extends north into the floodplain and south into the higher elevation of the ridge. The site consists of at least six roomblocks scattered on the terrace. Three areas were excavated during the 2001 field season: Unit 40, a habitation room, in Roomblock Don the north portion of the terrace, Unit 30, a specialized activity area to the east of Roomblock D, and Unit 21, also a habitation room, in Roomblock B on the southern portion of the terrace. The following summary presents results of the excavation of Unit 21, selected for excavation because of its proximity to Unit 20, also in Roomblock B, which was partially excavated during the 2000 field season. Unit 21 was chosen for further study as the excavation of multiple rooms in a single room block may provide useful comparative information on a single room block.
