Ehrlichia are emerging tick-borne pathogens of humans that were, until recently, known to cause diseases in animals. Ehrlichia are α-proteobacteria that belong to the order Rickettsiales and the family Anaplasmataceae. E. muris establishes persistent infection in laboratory mice and is extensively used as a surrogate pathogen to study the mechanisms of host defense and pathogenesis in a murine model of ehrlichiosis. We report here the complete genome sequence of Ehrlichia muris strain AS145T (T = type strain), which was isolated from a wild mouse in 1983 in Japan.
