The epitope sequence was derived from accession AY823991 (GI:58613396). Sera from 100 randomly selected pigs were tested for reactivity against the epitope. In a separate experiment, this epitope was used to demonstrate serological prevalence in different age categories from 307 serum samples collected from 16 herds. Positive reactivity was observed for piglets at 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 18 and 20 weeks, as well as in adults.
