Dataset for the manuscript entitled “In-situ Geotechnical Properties of Abyssal Sediments and Implications for Polymetallic Nodule Mining” by Zhenggang Li, Zhou Li, James R Hein, Yangrui Cheng, Yuwei Liu, Shiquan Lin, Xuan Zeng, Xiaoyan Li, Xibin Han, Hao Wang, Fengyou Chu, Xiaohu Li for submission in Geophysical Research letters. This dataset contains the raw data of 35 in-situ sediment penetration strength
obtained at 35 sites from 11 stations on the abyssal plain of China Minmetals Contract Area in the Clarion-Clipperton nodule field. In addition, it also contains raw data of sediment grain size collected at the stations where in-situ geotechnical tests have been conducted.
