AF_ILVO_SOC: dataset of long term monitoring soil organic carbon content in agroforestry fields in Flanders

This dataset contains soil carbon measurement results (over 400 records in version 1.0.0) performed by ILVO in agroforestry fields in Flanders, Belgium. The data were collected between 2015 and 2024, on a total set of 22 parcels. The parcels currently include boundary planted fields, silvoarable alley cropping fields and silvopastoral fields, with samples collected either as a baseline just after planting the trees, up to tree ages of 12 years old. Parameters assessed include mainly carbon concentration in the sampled soil layer, bulk density and additional info on field & tree identification (e.g. field location, orientation, spatial design, tree species and cultivar, …) + project or campaign info. Tree species present on the monitored fields include Populus x canadensis, Malus sp., Juglans regia, Prunus avium, Sorbus torminalis, Fraxinus excelsior and more. This dataset is a key subset of a growing dataset of soil carbon assessments in agroforestry context performed by ILVO (Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).
