The influence of the gut microbiome on immune function is increasingly being recognized. In landmark studies by Griffin et al. several Enterococcus and Akkermansia species were found to increase the efficacy of check point inhibitors by enhancing immune function through T-cell dependent mechanisms. Building on this concept we hypothesized that the relative abundance of immune cell enhancing microbes could impact immune-related outcomes such as Graft vs Host Disease (GVHD). We performed microbiome analysis as well an in vitro assays to evaluate the effect of the microbiome on T-cell function
