Soil surface runoff and soil detachment data, Dong Cao, Vietnam

Surface runoff (mm) and soil detachment (g m-2) measured out of microplots (1 m2) within the Dong Cao catchment (Vietnam).<br>
“Maize”: Trials with maize (Zea mays L.), field clearing with hand hoe (no fire). After sowing of the maize there was limited weed control using hand tools, resulting in high weed cover.<br>
“Maize no-till”: Trials with maize (Zea mays L.), field clearing with hand hoe (no fire) followed by planting of cuttings of Brachiaria ruziziensis Germ. &amp; Evrard being the cover crop. Maize was sown afterwards. The cover crop itself competed with the maize although it was supposed to suppress weeds in the maize.<br>
“Acacia mangium”: Low density of Acacia mangium Willd. Plantation installed in 2001 after several years of cassava cultivation.<br>
“Grass”: Spontaneous grass growing between Acacia mangium trees.<br>
