NRS-19313 | Register of town lands leases [Tumut Lands Office]

This register contains a summary record of all town lands leases in the Land District of Tumut, kept by the Tumut Lands Office.This tenure was introduced in 1916 under the Crown Lands Amendment Act 1916 (Act No.29, 1916) as a perpetual lease; the rights to purchase were granted in 1917. The area included in the lease was not to exceed one-half acre and the holder was required to pay an annual rent. The register records information such as: the year and number of the lease; name of purchaser or tenderer and their address; date of sale or tender; gazettal of lease, value and rent; name of transferee and address; date of transfer; date of letter notifying registration of transfer at Head Office; a description of the land, town, parish, county, land district, shire; capital value as determined for subsequent periods and rent; date of issue of lease, and to whom issued; payments made, dates of payment, and period paid for, annual rent, interest on late payments, year ending; and any further remarks.
