With increased blending of ethanol in gasoline, demand for ethanol has continued to rise, requiring greater production capacity. As of August 8, 2011, there were 214 biorefineries producing 14,786.9 million gallons of ethanol per year and another seven biorefineries under construction. The Renewable Fuels Association tracks the statistics found in the table below and provides plant names, locations and feedstocks used.
