Implementation of gamma-ray transmission tomography in a multi-modality tomographic scanner for nuclear materials in shielded radioactive waste drums - simulation data

Geant4 simulation data in CERN Root-format. The data result from a simulation study on step-and-shoot computed tomography (CT) using a cylindrical NaI(Tl)-detector and a point Co-60 source. The data is used to reconstruct tomographic image slices of a mock-up drum geometry built in Geant4. The source was simulated as a cone beam of 1/27th of a sphere with a million events per energy and measurement step in the full scan. The scan was simulated with increments of 3-degree rotation and 1 cm translational steps to complete full coverage of the width of the drum (in total 720 mm) per rotation in a 180-degree arc.

The images can be reconstructed through an algorithm such as filtered back-projection.
