Microglia have been found to acquire deleterious features with age and diseases that contribute to neuronal dysfunction and degeneration in the brain. However, it remains unknown whether microglia in the spinal cord acquire similar changes with age or how these changes impact their transcriptome. We performed RNA-sequencing on FACS-isolated microglia from the spinal cords of 3-, 18, 22- and 29-month-old CX3CR1-GFP mice. This work provides the foundation to investigate the spatial-temporal contribution of microglia to age-associated changes in the spinal cord.
