资源简介:
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that impart health benefits to the host. Microbial dysbiosis, a consequence of antibiotic use, stress and imbalance diet is directly associated with pathogenesis of intestinal disorders. Interestingly, probiotics inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria via competition for space and nutrients, hence restore the normal beneficial bacteria versus pathobiont ratio. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) entails chronic inflammation of gastrointestinal tract. The cause of IBD is not well understood but the evidence suggests that intestinal microbiota may be involved in its pathogenesis. The composition of intestinal microbiota is different in healthy individuals when compared with the IBD patients. It has been suggested, maintaining the balance of intestinal microbiota may be important for preventing IBD.
