Dangerous Harbor Project - Lancaster County - Reel 260 - Patrollers Accounts, 1653-1850 - TIFFs 1-26

This dataset includes 26 TIFF files showing patrollers accounts from Lancaster County in Virginia. They were created by “patrollers” – armed men who were responsible for enforcing punishments for disobedience among enslaved populations – to record their patrols, decisions, and actions. These documents were collected in association with the Dangerous Harbor Project which used courthouse documents to identify escaped unfree laborers in the 17th century Chesapeake and the punishments associated with their escape. To learn more about this project, please go to the Dangerous Harbor Website.
