Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is a serious ICU infection often caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a pathogen notable for its strong resistance to antibiotics and potent virulence factors. The rise of MDR and PDR strains worsens patient outcomes. Because routine methods cannot fully reveal resistance and virulence mechanisms, this study used whole-genome sequencing to identify the genetic basis of these traits in two PDR P. aeruginosa isolates from VAP patients at Al-Zahraa University Hospital.
