The Le Grand dictionnaire estonien-français (Estonian-French Dictionary) is a bilingual dictionary compiled by the Association franco-estonienne de lexicographie (AFEL). It aims to meet the needs of Estonians writing in French and French speakers deciphering Estonian texts. The dictionary contains over a hundred thousand entries, covering both general vocabulary and specialized terms in numerous fields, especially those that emerged after Estonias accession to the European Union. It is a translation dictionary focusing on providing actually usable French equivalents rather than defining Estonian words. The project utilizes modern information technology, allowing entries to be accessed online, and the results are freely available to the public.
