Breakdown of gold retail inventory China H1 2023, by type

As of the first half of 2023, gold jewelry manufactured using traditional Chinese craftsmanship made up almost 28 percent of the gold inventory of retailers in China. In comparison, high-purity gold accounted for merely 6.5 percent of the inventory. Gold jewelry products manufactured using ancient Chinese craftsmanship/ techniques have gained traction in the market recently with the popularity of China-chic (or "Guochao", a consumption trend where consumers favor products with Chinese characteristics as well as trendy domestic goods).
