Fecal microbiome analysis of an obese diabetic mouse model with or without roxadustat administration

Hypoxia-inducible factor-prolyl hydroxylase (HIF-PH) inhibitors are therapeutic agents against anemia in chronic kidney disease. HIF-PH inhibitors can have systemic secondary effects beyond anemia treatment because HIF activates a variety of hypoxic responses other than erythropoietin production. Although HIF-PH inhibitors are administered to patients with chronic kidney disease at this stage, some animal studies suggest their effects on diabetes and obesity. However, the detailed mechanism of these effects is still unraveled. Here, we focused on the effects of HIF-PH inhibitors on the intestinal microbiota in an obese diabetic mouse model.
