Cancer, its types, diagnosis and treatment
收藏资源简介:
Abstract: Background: Nowadays cancer is the most prevalent life threatening disease which is spreading because of the lifestyle we are living. Cancer is a major health problem in which abnormal cells grow uncontrollably in the body. These are the mass cells that start to multiply at a particular site. Treatment of cancer depends on the various internal and external factors causing cancer. (External factors such as tobacco, chemicals, radiations) (internal factors such as inherited mutations, hormones, random mutations)Cancer is due to uncontrolled growth of cells which can be cured if diagnosed in an early stage. Different screening tests and a number of treatments are now available these days such as gene therapy, chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, immunotherapy etc. Risk factors: Cancer risk factors include exposure to chemicals or other substances as well as certain behaviours. Major risk factors include smoking and tobacco consumption, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, obesity, lack of physical activity, genetic factors or family history, exposure to radiation, viral or bacterial infections, environmental or chemical exposure, increasing age, hormonal factors, weak immune system. Diagnosis: cancer can be diagnosed by methods such as radiological imaging ( x-rays, CT scans, MRIs. PET scans), cytology (examination of free cells or tissue scrapings), laboratory and blood tests ( complete blood counts, chemistry panels, tumour markers such as CEA, AFP), biopsy ( surgical, core-needle, endoscopic removal of tissue examined), molecular and genetic tests ( analysis of DNA & RNA, chromosomal translocation). Prevention: Healthy eating, regular physical activity, avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol, vaccination where appropriate, and regular screening can help reduce the risk. Conclusion: Cancer is a serious but, in some cases, preventable and treatable disease. Increased awareness, early diagnosis, and proper treatment are important for better health outcomes. Cancer care and control rely on early detection, integrated treatment plans and continuous prevention efforts.
